We’ve been ranked as the UK’s best hire company – by you – our fabulous customers

There are currently around 2,000 miles of navigable canals and rivers throughout the United Kingdom which host over one hundred canal boat hire bases. So we were surprised to learn recently that we were ranked number one by you – our fabulous customers. We are boaters that love boating so it’s a real privilege to share our knowledge of and love for the waterways with our customers and especially to introduce those that haven’t boated before to the waterways.
The starting slops of the Laughton Hills near Foxton photo taken when tim and myself had some time off work recently – of course – we went boating on Clent this time.

As many of you can attest, a boating holiday can take customers out of their comfort zone, so we take our time to show those hirers the ‘ropes’. Spending hours with customers that haven’t boated before, on the phone before they arrive as well as showing them out on their boat.

The most important thing is that our customers feel safe and have a great time. Still, it’s always lovely to read their reviews – since 2018 we’ve received over a thousand positive reviews and have introduced countless more waterways since Iris, Robin, Janusz and Ruth founded our company back in 1968 – and to hear we’ve ranked as the UK’s number one based those on customer reviews is a very welcome bonus. A real team effort and a credit to our brilliant staff.

The bit you don’t normally see – some of our fantastic team, getting the boats ready.

Although we work hard, we are also incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic location at Braunston where the Grand Union and Oxford Canals meet, looked after by the Canal And River Trust including hundreds of their volunteers. Our location gives our customers a wide range of routes to choose from – there is something for everybody – from short out-and-back trips to Stoke Bruerne, Warwick (and Warwick Castle) or Fenny Compton to longer ring routes to be completed over a week or more, such as the Warwick Ring, Leicester Ring or Thames Ring.

The rankings were put together based on customer reviews by Roam And Roost and you can see the full list here.

A huge thank you to every single person who has hired with us, from those who originally hired on our camping boats back in the 1960s to those who have hired for the first time this year. It’s been amazing and we’ve even seen some of your children grow up as you come back time and time again ❤.
